Another Kenyan Officer Injured During Operation in Haiti

A Kenyan police officer was injured on Tuesday, March 18, 2025, during a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area in Haiti.

In a statement, Multinational Security Support (MSS) Mission to Haiti Spokesperson Jack Ombaka confirmed that the officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital and is currently in stable condition after receiving medical attention.

“Today, Tuesday, 18th March 2025, a member of the MSS Kenyan contingent was injured while conducting a security operation in Kenscoff, within the Belot area. The officer was promptly evacuated to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital, where he is receiving medical attention and is in stable condition,” said Ombaka.

The MSS Spokesperson expressed gratitude to Haitians of goodwill and supporters who wished the injured officer a quick recovery.

“I sincerely thank you all for your unwavering support and cooperation as we engage in this decisive phase of operations against criminal elements,” Ombaka added.

Rising Casualties Among Kenyan Officers in Haiti

This latest incident comes just weeks after another Kenyan officer, Samuel Tompoi Kaetuai, succumbed to injuries sustained during an operation in Segur-Savien, Artibonite department. Tompoi was airlifted to ASPEN Level 2 Hospital but passed away while undergoing treatment.

His remains arrived in Kenya on March 10, 2025, and were received at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) by Deputy Inspector General of the Administration Police Service (APS) Gilbert Masengeli. The body was later transferred to Chiromo Mortuary for preservation ahead of burial arrangements.

Kenyan Deployment in Haiti

Kenya has played a leading role in the MSS mission in Haiti since June 2024, helping combat violent gangs that have destabilized the country.

So far, 744 Kenyan police officers have been deployed to Haiti, with the most recent group of 144 officers arriving on February 7, 2025.
