Residents of Shauri Yako in Eldama Ravine, Baringo County, are in shock after the body of 26-year-old Fredrick Kiptui was found floating in the Gurusalal Waterfall on Monday morning.

Kiptui, who had been missing for a week, left behind chilling last words to his wife, Naomi Jelagat, saying, “I’m not feeling well. My body will be found in the water.”

Originally from Tenges in Baringo Central, Kiptui lived in Shauri Yako with his family. His body, already decomposing, was identified by relatives. Police confirmed that no visible injuries were found, but the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has launched a probe to determine if it was a case of suicide or foul play.

Concerns have emerged over Kiptui’s recent social media post and reports that he lost Ksh 2,000 in a gaming app, raising suspicions of emotional distress. His body has been taken to Mercy Mission Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem as investigations continue.
