Former First Lady Margaret Kenyatta has praised Kenya’s Generation Z youth, describing them as bold, visionary, and essential agents of change in society.
Speaking on Friday, June 13, during an engagement with students at Brookhouse International School, Kenyatta acknowledged the creativity and innovation shown by Gen Zs, noting how they are leveraging their talents beyond personal gain.
“You have learned to leverage your talents; not just for personal success, but to build a better world by contributing your gifts and brilliant minds to the world,” she stated.

‘Question the Status Quo,’ Says Margaret
Margaret urged young people to remain fearless, to question outdated systems, and to drive innovation that transforms communities. She emphasized the importance of using their brilliance to build a more compassionate world.
“I see a bold generation rising, one ready to question the status quo, reimagine the future, and confront injustices. Your brilliance must drive innovation, experiment with new ideas, and help build the kinder world we so desperately need,” she said.
‘Go Forth and Shine’
In her parting words, Kenyatta inspired Gen Zs to stay optimistic and resilient in the face of challenges, encouraging them to use their inner light to lead transformation wherever life takes them.
“Go forth and shine. Wherever life takes you, let your light transform the world. Be productive—there’s nothing you can’t do,” she urged.
Uhuru Kenyatta: “Fight for What’s Yours”
Earlier this year, former President Uhuru Kenyatta echoed similar sentiments during the memorial of Kibathi Muigai. He encouraged Gen Z to stand up and protect their rights and achievements.
“The Gen Zs are the story of the future; fight for your rights, don’t just stay there while people take away what’s yours. Stand for what’s yours. We are behind you,” Uhuru declared.
As youth activism rises across the country, the powerful words from both Margaret and Uhuru Kenyatta serve as a strong endorsement for the next generation’s role in shaping Kenya’s future.
