Cherargei Throws Bash After Murkomen’s Critique by The Standard

2 8

Nandi County Senator, Samson Cherargei, threw a celebration after The Standard newspaper published a headline criticizing Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen for his handling of security issues. The local daily labeled Murkomen as a ‘Below Average CS’ in its hard-hitting editorial, attributing the rise in insecurity to his leadership.

“The headline vindicates everything I’ve been saying about Murkomen. This is a man who is unfit to hold office,” Cherargei reportedly said during his celebration.

A Political Feud Comes to a Head

The long-standing rivalry between Cherargei and Murkomen took center stage following the publication. Cherargei, who has frequently criticized Murkomen’s competence, hosted the bash at a city liquor joint. He was seen buying drinks for his allies, celebrating what he perceived as a public affirmation of his stance on Murkomen’s leadership.

Spreading the Message in Murkomen’s Home County

In a move that clearly reflected the depth of his dissatisfaction, Cherargei went further by purchasing several copies of the newspaper and organizing youths to distribute them in Murkomen’s home county. This action seems to be an extension of his political battle, aiming to ensure that Murkomen’s critics get their message heard.

Murkomen’s Response and the Bigger Picture

The critique by The Standard has undoubtedly caused waves in the political landscape. However, it remains to be seen how Murkomen will respond to these growing calls for his resignation. While Cherargei seems to have received a momentary victory, the political winds in Kenya are known for shifting rapidly.
