Two AK-47 Rifles Linked to Murder of NPR Officers in Meru Recovered in Isiolo
In a major breakthrough, a joint team led by the DCI Crime Scene Investigations (CSI) unit and supported by the GSU Kipsing team has recovered two AK-47 rifles believed to have been used in the killing of two National Police Reservists (NPR) in Igembe, Meru County.
The weapons, found with empty magazines, were recovered on Saturday at Lemorijo village in Lengurma Location, Isiolo North Sub-County.
According to police reports, the operation was launched following the brutal attack on April 7, 2025, when three NPR officers from Igembe North were shot dead by suspected armed raiders. Authorities believe the recovered rifles were used in the deadly ambush.
The successful recovery was a result of coordinated efforts between elite police units, members of the public, local administrators, and detectives from DCI Igembe North, who have since taken over the investigation.

However, the suspects behind the killings are yet to be apprehended. A major operation to track down the perpetrators is ongoing, police said.
Livestock Recovery in Samburu
Meanwhile, in Baragoi, Samburu County, police officers recovered 36 goats and 42 sheep suspected to have been stolen.
The livestock was found in Naturkan Village, Nachola Sub-Location. Upon spotting the approaching security officers, the suspected bandits fled, abandoning the animals.
Police said the recovered livestock was positively identified by the rightful owner and escorted to Baragoi Police Station for formal handover.
Cattle rustling continues to be a major concern in the region despite ongoing security operations aimed at curbing the practice.
