Education CS Migos Orders Schools to Release Withheld Certificates
Education Cabinet Secretary Julius Migos has issued a strict directive to all school heads, ordering them to release certificates for students who completed their national exams.
Migos emphasized that withholding certificates is illegal and unacceptable, warning that any school still holding the documents must comply within 14 days or face serious consequences.
“The law does not allow anyone to withhold certificates; they should be given unconditionally,” Migos stated.
The directive comes amid concerns that thousands of students who sat for exams like KCSE remain stranded due to withheld certificates, often linked to unpaid school fees. This has become a major obstacle for school leavers seeking further education or job opportunities.
The Education Ministry has urged affected students to report schools still holding their certificates, promising firm action against non-compliant institutions.
