Fred Machoka Demands Apology from Alai Over HIV Claim

machokaa

Veteran media personality Fred Obachi Machoka has issued a 48-hour ultimatum to blogger-turned-politician Robert Alai, demanding a public apology over defamatory remarks made in a recent online spat.

Machoka, speaking through his lawyer Danson Omari, warned that if the Kileleshwa Ward MCA fails to issue an unreserved apology “loud and clear for all Kenyans to hear,” legal action will follow.

The demand stems from controversial social media allegations made by Alai, who claimed that Machoka is HIV positive and on ARVs—remarks that Machoka has strongly denied, calling them “false, harmful, and profoundly disrespectful.”

Machoka: ‘This Is Reckless and Emotionally Damaging’

“This is not just a personal attack – it’s a serious and reckless statement that has caused unnecessary emotional distress,” said Omari while addressing the press on behalf of Machoka.

Robert Alai’s controversial post about Fred Obachi Machoka that sparked public outrage

Machoka, known for his longstanding career in broadcasting and his role in promoting Kenyan culture, has demanded that the apology be as public and far-reaching as the original defamatory post.

Legal Action Looms If Apology Is Not Issued

According to Omari, the damage done to Machoka’s reputation is significant and cannot be ignored. “We will not hesitate to proceed to court if Robert Alai does not comply within the set period,” he warned.

At the time of publishing, Robert Alai had not publicly responded to the legal demand or addressed the accusations made against him.
