Ange Postecoglou is growing increasingly likely to be sacked by Tottenham after a “terrible” season, according to the club’s former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the final call over Postecoglou’s future will come after the season ends.
Winning the Europa League would allow the boss a stay of execution given the value placed on winning trophies at Spurs – but pressure will still be high.
Failure to lift the one remaining trophy up for grabs will result in his dismissal in the off-season after a breakdown in his relationship with the club and the fans.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Postecoglou has broken the “golden rule” at Tottenham after recent clashes with the supporters.
Tottenham fans have demanded Postecoglou be sacked on multiple occasions this season, with a win against Southampton doing little to turn the tide.
Daniel Levy to make Ange Postecoglou sack decision at Tottenham
Brown previously told Football Insider that Postecoglou is under increasing sack pressure at Tottenham amid growing anger from the stands.
Now, the former scout who has a wealth of experience working closely with top-level managers including the likes of Sir Alex Ferguson for over a decade at Man United, insisted that he now expects the manager to be dismissed.
“Trying to predict what Daniel Levy is going to do can be difficult,” he told Football Insider.
“But it doesn’t sound good for him from what I hear.
“I get the feeling that come hail, rain or shine he will be sacked at the end of the season.
“There in the same boat as Man United in terms of their participation in the Europa League and what it would mean to win it.
“If they were to lift that trophy, it might give the manager a stay of execution.
“We saw with Ten Hag at United last year, winning a trophy might keep you in the job but it doesn’t do much to get rid of the pressure.
“But if they fail to win it, I don’t see any way he stays in the job next season.“
Dejan Kulusevski could quit Spurs after disappointing season
After a disappointing season at Tottenham, it is not only the manager’s future which has come into question as a number of players’ futures are up in the air.
Football Insider revealed on 8 April that Dejan Kulusevski is open to leaving Tottenham this summer amid interest from the likes of AC Milan and Napoli.
The 24-year-old is keen to remain playing at the highest level while Spurs remain 14th in the Premier League, 11 points away from European qualification.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham will demand a “huge” fee for Kulusevski as a number of top clubs are keeping an eye on his situation.
