CAF Cracks Down After Security Breaches
The Confederation of African Football (CAF) has released a list of prohibited items at Kasarani and Nyayo Stadiums during the ongoing 2024 African Nations Championship (CHAN). This comes shortly after Kenya was fined Ksh2.5 million for security lapses during the Harambee Stars vs DR Congo match.
CAF cited multiple issues, including:
- Unauthorized entry stampedes at Gate 11
- Access to restricted Public Security Areas (PSA)
- Fires ignited in the stands
- Motorbikes dangerously navigating crowds

Government Calls for Discipline
The Ministry of Sports has urged fans to follow CAF rules strictly to avoid further sanctions that could threaten Kenya’s AFCON 2027 bid.
“This is our chance to show CAF and the world that Kenya is ready for world-class events. Fan behavior will directly impact future opportunities,” the Ministry said.
Kenya has invested heavily in stadium upgrades, and any misconduct could jeopardize future hosting rights.
