Gachagua Claims Kenya Is the Only Country With Drug Barons in Cabinet

Rigathi Gachagua

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua has made sensational claims against President William Ruto’s administration, accusing it of appointing individuals linked to drug trafficking into senior government positions.

Speaking on Sunday, April 27, Gachagua alleged that the government’s commitment to fighting drug abuse crumbled after he exited the inner circle of power.

“When I left the government, Ruto brought two drug barons into his Cabinet as Cabinet Secretaries. How do you expect the fight against drugs to be won? It cannot. Our youth are left in God’s protection,” Gachagua stated during a public address.

Kenya Accused of Harboring Drug Barons at the Top

The outspoken politician further claimed that Kenya is now the only country in the world where individuals accused of selling drugs serve in the Cabinet.

“I knew very well the government was not interested in the fight. Kenya is the only country in the world where drug barons selling drugs sit in the Cabinet,” he emphasized.

Despite his strong accusations, Gachagua did not reveal the names of the Cabinet Secretaries he alleges are linked to the drug trade.
