New Changes Announced
TVET Principal Secretary Esther Thaara Muoria confirmed the change during a media interview alongside Government Spokesperson Isaac Mwaura on June 10, 2025.
“TVET diploma courses will now take a maximum of one and a half years,” Muoria stated, adding that TVET serves as a key pillar in the government’s skills transformation agenda.

The PS explained that her team is focused on ensuring TVET institutions positively impact young people’s lives by offering practical and relevant skills for the job market.

Currently, Kenya has over 240 TVET institutions, with only around 50 constituencies still lacking one.
Target Audience for Diploma Courses
These diploma programs are primarily targeted at students who scored a KCSE mean grade of C- (minus) or higher.

- Construction Trades (e.g. masonry, plumbing, carpentry)
- ICT (e.g. networking, computer applications)
- Business and Management
- Hospitality and Tourism

How to Apply for TVET Courses
Applications for TVET courses can be made through the official KUCCPS portal. Applicants should:
- Create or log into your KUCCPS student account
- Search for TVET courses
- Enter the correct course codes
- Pay the required application fee
- Submit before the deadline
Successful applicants will receive placement results via KUCCPS once the review process is complete.
