A wave of speculation has hit the internet after activist and Inject Party leader Morara Kebaso suggested that he may be walking away from the political spotlight.

In a post shared on his official X account on the evening of Monday, June 23, Morara expressed a sense of liberation, saying he can now live life freely and without the burdens of political office or public scrutiny.

“I’m Finally Free” – Morara Declares

“I finally escaped politics. I can now live my life. I can run my business, make my money, travel the world, see my friends, visit a bar, and not worry about pictures… Nobody can judge me if I dance the wrong way or smile the wrong way.”

Morara, known for his bold activism and the viral “Vampire Diaries” episodes in 2024 exposing stalled government projects, seemed to draw a curtain on his brief but high-profile political career. He added that he no longer needs security or must attend interviews only to be misquoted.

Morara to Hand Over Inject Party Assets

The activist confirmed that he will hand over party assets contributed by the public to new leadership within the Inject Party. He stated his intention is for the party to live on and continue empowering young people in Kenyan politics.

“I am aware that there are assets in my possession that were contributed by Kenyans of goodwill. I will hand over the assets to the capable Inject leadership, who will continue with the dream of building a political party that gives a chance to young people,” he wrote.

Mixed Reactions from Kenyans

Morara’s statement has drawn a flurry of reactions from Kenyans online. While some praised him for choosing peace and personal growth, others accused him of timing his exit suspiciously just days before the June 25 national protests.

A section of users went as far as calling him a “conman”, alleging he collected funds from supporters only to bow out when expectations were rising.

Some sample reactions include:

  • @Njeri_Ke: “So after receiving millions from Kenyans, you’re suddenly tired of politics?”
  • @BabaMtoto: “Politics is tough, especially when it’s not a game. Maybe Morara is just being honest.”
  • @TacticalWafula: “This might be a move to distract from the planned protests. We are not blind!”
  • @Furaha254: “Live your life Morara. You already inspired a generation. That’s enough.”

What’s Next for Morara?

While Morara hasn’t formally resigned from the Inject Party or confirmed a permanent exit from public life, his statement hints at a major transition. Whether this is a temporary break or a complete departure from politics remains to be seen.

For now, all eyes are on the upcoming demonstrations, with Kenyans eager to see whether Morara’s influence or absence will shape the national conversation going forward.
