Dejan Kulusevski is interested in a move to AC Milan after a frustrating season at Tottenham, according to the club’s former scout.
Mick Brown, who also worked as the chief scout at Man United and Blackburn and remains very well-connected at his former clubs, exclusively told Football Insider that the 24-year-old is open to a return to Italy after leaving Juventus in 2023.
Tottenham, however, are reluctant to let their star player leave this summer and view him as a crucial part of their plans for the future.
This comes after Brown told Football Insider that Tottenham will demand a “huge” fee for Kulusevski as a number of top clubs are keeping an eye on his situation.
Among those clubs are both AC Milan and Napoli, who are keen to strengthen their attacking options this summer and could explore the Sweden international’s availability.
Meanwhile, the midfielder is keen to remain playing at the highest level while Spurs remain 14th in the Premier League, 11 points away from European qualification.
Dejan Kulusevski open to Tottenham exit after Serie A latest
Kulusevski has been a standout performer for Tottenham so far this season, recording ten goals and ten assists in 42 appearances across all competitions so far.
Brown, who has a wealth of experience in top-level player recruitment after over a decade at Man United during their most successful period, explained that the midfielder could look to leave Spurs with a return to Italy his most likely destination.
“Kulusevski is one who could leave this summer,” he told Football Insider.
“I think a lot of the players are frustrated with the way the season has gone at Tottenham.
“Whenever I’ve seen them play, he has been one of if not their best player, so they’re not going to want to lose him unless a really big offer comes in.
“I hear a couple of the Italian clubs have been looking at him – AC Milan and Napoli.
“It’s a league and a country he knows after his time with Juventus, so a return might suit him.
“I think he’s going to be interested in those moves should the opportunity arise for him.
“It’s definitely one I think will be feasible even if Tottenham don’t want to let him leave, because he will want to continue playing at the highest level.
“He’s certainly good enough to do it, so it wouldn’t surprise me to see him go.”
Ange Postecoglou eyes deals for two Premier League forwards
Despite speculation about the future of some of their attacking players, Tottenham are also looking to improve in forward areas ahead of the transfer window.
Football Insider revealed on 6 April that Tottenham are interested in Chelsea’s Noni Madueke, who left the club in 2018 to pursue first-team football with PSV.
This comes as Enzo Maresca has doubts about where the winger fits into his system and is prepared to sanction his exit at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Crystal Palace star Eberechi Eze has also been a long-term target for Spurs, although the Eagles are relucent to sanction his departure.
