Teenage Pregnancy Meeting Turns Fatal in Kayole

A family meeting meant to address a pregnancy involving a 19-year-old woman and a 17-year-old boy ended in tragedy after the boy fatally stabbed the girl’s mother in Kayole, Nairobi.

Police say the boy was summoned on Saturday, May 4, 2025, to discuss the pregnancy, but the situation escalated into violence. In a sudden outburst, the boy pulled a knife and stabbed the 19-year-old’s mother in the back, causing fatal injuries.

A second woman, the deceased’s sister, was also injured during the scuffle and is currently admitted to a nearby hospital with wounds to her hands and mouth.

Suspect Arrested With Suicide Plan

Authorities confirmed the arrest of the 17-year-old suspect, who allegedly intended to commit suicide after the attack. A bottle containing suspected turpentine liquid was recovered from the scene, alongside the knife used in the attack.

Police believe the boy came prepared to commit both murder and suicide, based on the items recovered. The body of the deceased has been moved to the mortuary for a post-mortem examination.

Another Murder Over Sh100 in Trans Nzoia

In a separate tragic incident, a 17-year-old boy in Geta, Trans Nzoia County stabbed and killed his 32-year-old elder brother during an argument over Sh100.

The fight broke out after their mother left the money to be used for lunch, but it reportedly went missing. The younger brother allegedly reacted violently, stabbing his sibling fatally. The suspect has since been arrested and the body moved to the Kitale County Referral Hospital mortuary.

Police Alarmed by Rising Murder Cases

Kenya continues to witness a disturbing rise in domestic murders, especially involving youth. Police urge families to seek mediation and counseling in domestic matters to prevent such tragic outcomes.
