This transaction hands over 100% ownership of NBK to Access Bank, a move designed to enhance the resilience and competitiveness of banking services in the region.

Access Bank’s Expansion into East Africa

Access Bank Plc, one of Africa’s fastest-growing financial institutions, brings vast expertise in corporate, retail, and digital banking. The acquisition of NBK boosts its footprint in East Africa, aligning with its goal of being a pan-African banking leader.

What Customers Can Expect

According to NBK Managing Director George Odhiambo, the bank has a proud legacy of serving Kenya’s public sector. He noted that the integration offers a chance to build on this heritage and better serve customers through expanded offerings and digital banking innovations.

“With Access Bank’s strong focus on public sector services and innovation, we’re looking forward to elevating how we serve Kenyans,” Odhiambo stated.

Smooth Transition Assured

With the legal handover finalized, both banks will now focus on aligning operations, unifying teams, and harmonizing product offerings. During this transition, NBK and Access Bank Kenya customers can continue using their existing banking channels without disruption.
