State Department Confirms Emergency Evacuation Plan

The State Department for Diaspora Affairs has announced the immediate evacuation of Kenyan nationals in Israel and Iran due to escalating military conflict between the two nations.

In a statement released on Saturday, June 21, the government urged all Kenyans living in the two countries to register for evacuation via an official form accessible through the department’s online platforms.

Registration Process for Evacuation

Kenyan citizens are required to submit their full name, ID and passport details, current address, location, medical condition, and next of kin information.

A QR code has also been shared on the department’s social media platforms to ease access to the evacuation form.

Principal Secretary Roseline Njogu earlier confirmed that evacuation logistics are being coordinated in collaboration with Kenya’s embassies in Tehran and Tel Aviv.

Evacuation Linked to Intensified Middle East Conflict

The evacuation notice follows weeks of intensifying conflict between Israel and Iran, which began on June 13, 2025. Both countries are engaged in large-scale aerial and missile attacks, targeting critical infrastructure.

PS Njogu previously issued a travel advisory, asking Kenyans to avoid non-essential movement and to follow instructions from local authorities in the region.

“The government continues to monitor the situation in the region and remains fully committed to the safety and welfare of Kenyans wherever they are,” Njogu said.

Global Diplomatic Efforts Fail to Calm Tensions

Diplomatic talks held in Geneva between European and Iranian diplomats on Friday failed to achieve any breakthrough. Meanwhile, Iran’s nuclear facilities and key Israeli sites remain potential targets as military operations escalate.

The UN Security Council has called for an emergency meeting to discuss the crisis, as global leaders warn of possible regional escalation involving actors like Hezbollah and U.S. Gulf allies.

What Kenyans Should Do

The State Department advised all Kenyans to stay connected with family, keep emergency contacts nearby, and maintain regular communication with Kenya’s missions in the host countries.

“Register with the nearest Kenyan mission immediately. Your safety is our priority,” the official notice urged.
