Kenya Power has issued a public alert warning customers of a major system disruption currently affecting the purchase of electricity tokens via M-Pesa Paybill number 888880.

Thousands Affected by Payment Error
In a statement released on Monday, the utility company acknowledged that thousands of customers are unable to buy prepaid electricity tokens due to an unexpected technical interruption within their system.
“We would like to inform our esteemed customers that we are currently experiencing a system interruption that is affecting payment of electricity bills through our Paybill 888880,” Kenya Power announced.

Alternative Payment Options Offered
To minimize inconvenience, Kenya Power has advised customers to use alternative payment options while their technical team works on restoring services.

“We are working to restore normalcy as soon as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience caused,” the company added.

Kenya Power also urged the public to rely solely on official communication channels for updates regarding the issue.
