The disruptive chants came from a group of youth gathered outside the stadium where Kindiki was presiding over a development launch. Despite the commotion, the Deputy President proceeded with his speech after security forces dispersed the hecklers and heightened security around the venue.
Kindiki Blasts Gachagua Over Mount Kenya Unity
Visibly angered, Kindiki accused Gachagua of misleading the region and belittling other leaders.
“You cannot claim you alone are wise while everyone else is foolish. Are you God?” Kindiki asked rhetorically, drawing murmurs from the crowd.
Ruto Allies Reject Gachagua’s Tactics
Gachagua recently accused popular artists of taking bribes to attend a private meeting at Kindiki’s residence in Karen on March 23, 2025. He urged residents to boycott their music unless the musicians apologized.
Kindiki dismissed the allegations, terming them “baseless and divisive.” He pledged to host 500 more artists in Karen and called on leaders to embrace constructive dialogue rather than tribal incitement.
Political Rift Deepens Ahead of 2027 Elections
With the 2027 General Election on the horizon, the Kenya Kwanza coalition appears fractured in Mount Kenya. Kindiki, seen as Ruto’s preferred successor in the region, is being positioned against Gachagua, whose grassroots appeal remains strong despite internal resistance.
Mathira MP Eric Wamumbi, another Ruto ally, criticized Gachagua’s political strategy, urging leaders to promote unity instead of spreading division.
As political temperatures rise in the Mount Kenya region, the drama between Kindiki and Gachagua is expected to intensify, potentially redefining succession politics in President Ruto’s inner circle. Whether unity will prevail or division will deepen remains to be seen as 2027 approaches.
