KPLC Introduces Convenient eBill Services for Electricity Management

Kenya Power (KPLC) has streamlined the process of checking and paying electricity bills by launching its new eBill services. Customers can now choose from three simple methods to manage their accounts—via an online portal, through SMS, or by email—making it easier than ever to stay on top of energy expenses.

Three Easy Ways to Check Your KPLC Bill

1. SMS Service
The eBill SMS service allows customers to quickly check their electricity balance and bill due date using any Kenyan cellular network. Here’s how it works:

  • Compose an SMS: Open a new message on your phone.
  • Enter Recipient: Send the message to the shortcode 95551.
  • Enter Account Number: In the message field, type the first part of your account number (e.g., for 562897-01, enter “562897”).
  • Receive Automatic Reply: You will receive an SMS with your current balance and bill due details.
  • Service Charge: Note that this service is charged at Ksh 5 per inquiry.

2. Email Service
For those who prefer checking their bill via email:

  • Compose an Email: Log in to your email account and create a new message.
  • Subject Line: Enter the first part of your account number in the subject field (e.g., “879833” for account 879833-04).
  • Send Message: Send the blank email to bill@kplc.co.ke.
  • Automatic Response: Within minutes, an email reply will provide your account balance, statement, and bill due date.

3. Online Portal
Customers can also check their bill online:

  • Visit the KPLC Website: Go to the official Kenya Power website.
  • Enter Account Details: Input the first part of your account number in the designated field (do not enter the full account number to avoid errors).
  • Submit Information: Click “Submit” to view your account details online.
  • Detailed Bill: Despite these digital methods, KPLC continues to send detailed bills to your postal address.

Additionally, KPLC has released an Android App available on the Google Play Store and iOS devices. This app provides the same functionalities—allowing users to check their balance, view statements, and even pay their bills—anytime and anywhere.

Extra Features and Considerations

For customers looking to manage their electricity usage more effectively, KPLC offers extra features such as a USSD code, token number checker, and tools to monitor token delays. These enhancements are part of KPLC’s ongoing efforts to modernize its services and improve customer experience.

KPLC’s new eBill services represent a significant step forward in making electricity management more accessible and efficient. By offering multiple convenient methods to check and pay bills, Kenya Power is empowering customers with real-time information and control over their energy expenses. As digital solutions continue to evolve, users are encouraged to take advantage of these tools while staying informed through the traditional mailed bills for complete details.
