Man United fans are fearing Joshua Zirkzee will be ruled out for the rest of the season after picking up an injury during the defeat to Newcastle.
Ruben Amorim’s side fell to a 4-1 defeat away from home despite going into half-time at 1-1 after a goal from Alejandro Garnacho cancelled out Sandro Tonali’s strike.
The second half saw Eddie Howe’s team take control as Harvey Barnes scored two goals in just 15 minutes before Bruno Guimaraes put the nail in the coffin.
Despite the scoreline, however, the travelling Man United supporters were largely focused on the “devastating” injury blow to Zirkzee.
The Dutchman limped off with the assistance of the club’s medical staff after 55 minutes after clutching his hamstring – adding to the fears surrounding his withdrawal.
Depending on the extent of the muscle injury, the best-case scenario would see him miss one week, while the worst could rule him out for months.

Former chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in February that Man United have made a U-turn about Zirkzee despite previously believing he had no future at OId Trafford.
He is now regarded as a key player in their forward line and is the first-choice striker.
Amorim has utilised him in a role which better suits his abilities since the initial concerns, and his up-turn in performances has been a feature of United’s recent games.
Now, though, the boss will likely be forced to deploy Rasmus Hojlund as the centre-forward for the remainder of the season.
Brown told Football Insider that Hojlund is not part of Amorim’s plans for the future, explaining that his lack of improvement under the boss has been “alarming”.

Man United fans booed Zirkzee off the pitch following his first-half substitution against Newcastle in January, leaving him in tears on the side of the pitch.
Now following the reverse fixture, fans have been crushed by the potentially serious injury and are hoping he will recover quicker than many fear.
Taking to social media following his substitution at St James’ Park, Man United supporters are claiming he will be “out for the season” and insisting their season is now over.
