Man United fans rage at ‘horrific’ Manuel Ugarte after ‘disaster’ v Newcastle

Man United fans have been left raging at Manuel Ugarte after his performance in their Premier League clash against Newcastle United.

Ruben Amorim’s side lost 4-1 at St James’ Park after goals from Sandro Tonali and Alejandro Garnacho had the two sides level heading into half-time.

The second half saw a Harvey Barnes brace and a strike from Bruno Guimaraes snatch all three points as they strengthened their bid for Champions League qualification.

However, the spotlight amongst the travelling fans was fixed firmly on the performance of Ugarte as they struggled to compete with a physically dominant Magpies midfield.

The 24-year-old’s poor passing and lack of composure has been a feature of recent performances and United fans are growing increasingly frustrated.

This comes after Graeme Souness slammed Ugarte’s signing last month, insisting they should have held on to Scott McTominay who was sold to Napoli.

Ruben Amorim sack update emerges at Old Trafford

It has been a difficult season for Amorim and United so far, with their latest defeat having seen them drop below Everton on goal difference into 14th place.

However, Football Insider revealed on 12 April that Man United are unlikely to sack Amorim and are instead set to back him in the summer window.

Former Man United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider in February that INEOS want to sign Bayern Munich’s Harry Kane as a statement of intent.

Meanwhile, the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Matheus Cunha, Morgan Gibbs-White and Hugo Ekitike have all been linked with United as part of their plans.

Despite their ambitious summer plans, there is a growing frustration among Man United fans that the current options to not fit in with Amorim’s style of play.

That is most clearly shown by Ugarte, whose lack of ability in possession has caused repeated issues and once again led to pressure against Newcastle.

Following the game, the travelling supporters took to social media to express their anger as they labelled Ugarte “laughably bad”, “horrific” and “one of the worst midfielders ever”.
