The meeting has sparked mixed reactions online, with many viewing the formation as a potential powerhouse against Ruto’s administration, which continues to face growing criticism over its leadership style.

Gachagua, who is preparing to unveil his 2027 political movement next month targeting Mt. Kenya voters, emphasized the importance of a united front. Speaking to Weru TV on April 27, he assured supporters that opposition candidates would rely on scientific polling to select the strongest presidential contender.
“We will meet on Tuesday, and from that meeting, you will see a united team ready to liberate this country,” Gachagua stated.
Gachagua, alongside Karua, Kalonzo, Matiang’i, and Eugene Wamalwa, has openly declared his interest in the presidency. However, he pledged to back whichever candidate emerges as the consensus choice, vowing that personal ambitions would not divide the opposition camp.
Meanwhile, Matiang’i, who quietly returned from the United States recently, has yet to publicly announce his 2027 plans. Sources close to him suggest that he prefers behind-the-scenes consultations over public rallies. A series of political events lined up next week may, however, shed more light on his ambitions.
Additionally, elders from the Gusii community are expected to hold a major ceremony at Gusii Stadium soon, where Matiang’i will be formally endorsed as a key political figure. Organizers indicate that the event will draw top leaders from across Kenya.
