Health CS Aden Duale Speaks on Crackdown

Health Cabinet Secretary Aden Duale announced the crackdown on Monday, noting the government’s firm stand against quack medics, ghost facilities, and public fund misuse in the health sector.

“There is a full-blown crackdown on rogue clinics and fake doctors endangering lives, especially in informal settlements. We’re committed to a health system that is affordable, accessible, and accountable,” said Duale.

He encouraged Kenyans to report fake clinics and unqualified health workers via the toll-free number 147.

Duale emphasized that this is only the beginning. “We will extend this operation to all counties and wards. We urge the public to stay vigilant and report unqualified health operators,” he said.

KMPDC Findings: Alarming Health Risks

Documents from the KMPDC revealed that many of the affected clinics were being run by unqualified personnel, exposing patients to serious medical harm. Some were even found defrauding the defunct NHIF system to collect millions of shillings.

“This is about saving lives and restoring dignity to our healthcare system,” Duale affirmed, reiterating his promise for sector-wide reforms.
