Macharia Opts for World Bank Consultancy Role
Former Teachers Service Commission (TSC) CEO Nancy Macharia has officially declined the nomination to serve as Chairperson of the Murang’a County Public Service Board.
The announcement was made on Thursday, June 26, just a day before her scheduled vetting by the Murang’a County Assembly.
According to a notice from the Murang’a County government, Dr. Macharia turned down the nomination due to accepting a consultancy engagement with the World Bank.
“Dr Nancy Macharia has declined our nomination on the basis that she has received another engagement for consulting for the World Bank. Whereas we wish her well, the county feels it has lost,” read part of the statement.

Murang’a Governor Irungu Kang’ata had nominated Macharia in a communication to the County Assembly dated June 18, 2025.
Alongside her, the Governor nominated Dr. Louis Mwende Musikali, Johnson Kangethe Kinyua, Dr. Brian Lishenga Makamu, and Oscar Kimani Gathura (Secretary) to serve on the County Public Service Board.
The vetting process was scheduled for Friday, June 27, at 10:00 AM. However, with Macharia’s withdrawal, the Assembly will now proceed with vetting the remaining nominees.
