Kapseret MP Oscar Sudi has made surprising remarks about President William Ruto’s political future, saying the ruling camp would have no issue if Ruto ends up a one-term president in the 2027 general elections.

Sudi Softens Stance on Ruto’s Re-Election

Sudi, known for his outspoken defense of the President, appeared to change tune as pressure mounts against Ruto’s administration. He acknowledged the growing dissent and noted that the camp is prepared for any outcome.

“I hear Rigathi Gachagua saying President William Ruto will go one term. We have no problem with him being a one-term president. So long as he (Gachagua) is already out, we will have no problem following him home,” said Sudi.

However, he affirmed that Ruto and his allies are already strategizing for a possible win in 2027.

Opposition Preparing a United Front

Meanwhile, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua recently stated that the opposition will unveil their joint presidential candidate by December 2026.

During a rally in Machakos County, Gachagua revealed ongoing unity talks among top political figures including:

He claimed they would wait until the end of 2026 to name their flagbearer to avoid sabotage by the current administration.

“We shall remain silent until December 2026, when we will announce who the person is. If we talk right now, they will plot against us,” Gachagua stated.

What Lies Ahead for 2027?

As political realignments gain momentum, both camps are bracing for a highly competitive presidential election. Whether Ruto returns for a second term or Kenya sees its first one-term president remains a matter of national debate.
