Pep Guardiola could quit Man City at the end of the season despite having signed a new contract at the Etihad in November.
The boss put pen to paper on a two-year deal to commit his future to City until 2027 despite what has proved to be a frustrating season so far.
His side were knocked out of the Champions League in the playoff round, lost against Tottenham in the League Cup and currently sit fifth in the Premier League.
However, they remain in the FA Cup ahead of a semi-final against Nottingham Forest at Wembley which represents their only chance at silverware this season.
As a result, former England goalkeeper Paul Robinson told Football Insider that Guardiola’s future remains uncertain at the Etihad as his decision is currently unclear.
This comes amid speculation that Guardiola could quit Man City as his squad is in need of a major overhaul ahead of the summer transfer window.
Pep Guardiola could quit Man City after ‘unhappy’ claim
Industry insider Mick Brown told Football Insider in February that Guardiola is growing increasingly unhappy at Man City after a disastrous season.
Since then, Kevin de Bruyne has announced his exit from the Etihad, while the futures of a number of other stars remain up in the air.
Speaking on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Robinson explained that potential new signings will be uncertain about whether the manager will still be there come next season amid increased uncertainty.
“I question whether new signings can do what Pep would want them to do,” he told Football Insider.
“That’s if Pep is going to be there.
“At the moment it’s all hypothetical, isn’t it? We don’t know if Guardiola is going to be there or not come the end of the season.
“Even come the end of next season, he’ll see how that goes.
“He’s signed that contract, but we still don’t know what he will do.”
Pep Guardiola eyes squad rebuild at the Etihad
Despite speculation over Guardiola’s future, City are putting plans in place for a potential rebuild at the Etihad in the summer transfer window.
Brown told Football Insider in February that Man City will spend big this summer with five more big-name signings lined up to overhaul the current first-team squad.
This comes after City spent big in January, with £180million forked out on the arrivals of Omar Marmoush, Abdukodir Khusanov, Vitor Reis and Nico Gonzalez.
Now, they are considering moves to sign the likes of Morgan Gibbs-White and Destiny Udogie among targets to improve all over the pitch.
