Uncertainty Surrounds Fate of Kenyan Officer Deployed in Haiti
The Inspector General (IG) of the National Police Service has issued an update regarding the disappearance of Kenyan officer Benedict Kabiru, who went missing while on duty in Haiti. However, key details about his status remain undisclosed, leaving his family and the nation in suspense.
Conflicting Reports on Kabiru’s Whereabouts
Kabiru, who was part of the Multinational Security Support Mission in Haiti, was last seen on March 25 when his unit reportedly came under attack. While some reports suggest that a security officer was killed during the ambush, Kenyan authorities have yet to confirm whether Kabiru was the victim.
A statement released by Haiti’s Transitional Presidential Council last week indicated that an officer lost their life in the attack. However, the Kenyan government has neither confirmed nor denied whether Kabiru was the individual in question.
Family Pleads for Transparency
As the search continues, Kabiru’s family remains in a state of anguish, urging the government to provide clearer information about his fate. They continue to hold onto hope that he will be found alive or that they will at least receive definitive news that will bring closure.
Authorities Continue Search Efforts
Meanwhile, security teams in Haiti and Kenyan authorities are reportedly working together to establish Kabiru’s whereabouts. The government has assured the public that every effort is being made to locate him and provide answers to his concerned family and colleagues.
