President William Ruto has departed for official visits to Spain and the United Kingdom, where he is expected to promote global financial reforms and strengthen Kenya’s economic ties with European partners.

Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development

Ruto will begin his trip in Seville, Spain, where he will attend the Fourth International Conference on Financing for Development. He is set to co-chair a session with global leaders and hold bilateral meetings with Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez and King Felipe VI.

Key discussions will revolve around clean energy, climate resilience, and youth empowerment — areas where Kenya seeks deeper cooperation with Spain.

Renewed Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership

Following his engagements in Spain, President Ruto will head to London where he will join UK Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer in signing the Kenya-UK Strategic Partnership 2025–2030.

The agreement covers trade, climate action, digital innovation, and security, and is expected to unlock over £1.5 billion in new investments, doubling trade between the two nations by 2030.

Major Projects and Tech Collaboration

Flagship projects under the partnership include the Nairobi Railway City and enhanced cooperation on artificial intelligence and digital skills training for Kenyan youth and SMEs.

Ruto is also set to witness the unveiling of a new regional underwriting hub in Nairobi by Lloyd’s of London through the Nairobi International Financial Centre (NIFC).

The Africa Debate Keynote Address

In London, Ruto will deliver the keynote speech at The Africa Debate, hosted by Invest Africa. He will use the platform to pitch Kenya’s economic transformation agenda to international investors.

Kenya’s Expanding Global Role

State House Spokesperson Hussein Mohamed said the president’s itinerary reflects Kenya’s growing diplomatic influence and commitment to sustainable development and international cooperation.

The trip marks a pivotal moment as Kenya seeks to position itself as a leading voice in climate finance and multilateral reform.
