Rigathi Gachagua’s Homecoming May Be in Handcuffs – Here’s Why
The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) is set to arrest former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua as soon as he arrives back in Kenya from his ongoing trip to the United States.
Murkomen Issues Statement
Speaking on Saturday, Interior Cabinet Secretary Kipchumba Murkomen said Gachagua will be required to record a statement over recent remarks he made regarding national security and alleged terrorism links.

“I saw another man who sat where you are sitting the other day, disparaging our country, talking about issues of insecurity as if it were a joke. He thinks that he is going to parade issues of terrorism in America for him to get votes,” Murkomen said.
Al-Shabaab Allegations
Murkomen accused the former DP of making claims suggesting that he has knowledge of individuals allegedly holding meetings with the militant group Al-Shabaab.
“Because he has said that he has information and he knows and that he has an agent who is holding meetings with Al-Shabaab, as soon as he lands in Kenya, he must record a statement to tell us exactly which meetings he is having with terrorists,” the CS added.
Ongoing Political Tensions
The development comes amid heightened political temperatures in Kenya, with Gachagua’s recent remarks during his U.S. engagements sparking backlash from government officials.
Authorities have not confirmed whether the investigation will lead to formal charges, but sources within the DCI indicate that they are treating the matter as a serious national security concern.
