Salasya Attacked and Taken by Force: Is DCI Behind It?

Mumias East MP Peter Salasya is at the center of a shocking incident after he was attacked, his vehicle vandalized, and later reportedly arrested by unidentified armed men along the Isiolo-Nanyuki road.

Gunfire, Hijacking, and a Daring Escape

According to Salasya, his convoy was intercepted by multiple vehicles, believed to be operated by individuals claiming to be DCI officers. The attackers hijacked vehicles ahead of him and used them to box in his car. They then opened fire, shooting at the tires and immobilizing the MP’s vehicle.

Salasya claimed that his security team was disarmed and that he was taken by force. One of his bodyguards managed to escape and helped him flee to nearby bushes for safety. The attackers allegedly brandished AK-47 rifles and delivered a threatening message to the MP—one he declined to disclose for now.

Unanswered Questions and Police Denial

The Kenya Police Service denied involvement, stating that investigations are ongoing. It remains unclear whether the ambush was a state-sanctioned operation or the work of rogue elements.

“This was a well-coordinated operation. Who sent them? Why now? Kenya must stand for truth and justice,” Salasya posted on social media.

Political Undertones and Previous Engagements

The incident occurred shortly after Salasya’s rallies in Isiolo and Meru counties, where he emphasized peace and development. He insists he has not targeted the government in his public addresses, deepening the mystery surrounding the motive for the attack.

His abrupt detainment and the intensity of the ambush have sparked concerns among political observers about a possible trend of intimidation against outspoken leaders.

Public Outcry and Call for Transparency

Kenyans on social media have voiced outrage, demanding clarity from the state and human rights bodies. Civil society organizations are urging the Kenya National Commission on Human Rights and Parliament to intervene and ensure Salasya’s safety and justice.

This unfolding drama has once again thrown the spotlight on security, accountability, and political freedoms in Kenya.
