Samidoh Distances Himself From Political Slogan
The phrase, often used by critics of President William Ruto, caught Samidoh off-guard. Although the crowd’s chants overpowered the room, the singer cleverly avoided directly joining in. Instead, he responded humorously, saying:
“It is you people saying it? Harambee.”
His subtle dodge drew cheers from the audience but helped him steer clear of further political controversy.
Ongoing Disciplinary Scrutiny
The incident comes amid reports that Samidoh –a police officer by profession — is under scrutiny for breaching Service Standing Orders (SSO) that bar officers from engaging in political activity. This follows earlier reports of disciplinary action and his reported transfer to Baringo County.

Speaking on the matter, Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja remained tight-lipped on specific details but emphasized that “officers are subject to service regulations, including transfers.”
Political Fallout: Rift With Gachagua
Samidoh is also entangled in political drama back home after he, along with other popular artists like Jose Gatutura and Karangu Muraya, met Interior CS Kithure Kindiki. The meeting, aimed at discussing intellectual property and artist support, angered former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
Gachagua accused the musicians of betraying the Mt. Kenya region and called on supporters to boycott their music and appearances until they issue public apologies.
What This Means for Samidoh
With mounting political pressure and police scrutiny, Samidoh finds himself navigating a tightrope. While he continues to enjoy strong support from fans abroad, his entanglement in Kenya’s volatile political scene poses potential risks to his career both as an artist and an officer.
