A new TIFA poll has revealed that Anne Amadi is the most preferred candidate to become the next IEBC chairperson. The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) is a crucial institution in Kenya’s political landscape, and the poll aimed to find out whom Kenyans trust most with the job.

Amadi Leads the Pack in IEBC Chairperson Poll

According to the 2025 IEBC chairperson poll released on May 7, Anne Amadi garnered 41% support from Kenyans nationwide. She was followed by Charles Nyachae (23%), Erastus Ethekon (15%), and Abdulqadir Ramadhan (12%).

Why Kenyans Prefer Anne Amadi

According to the TIFA survey on IEBC leadership, most respondents cited gender representation and regional balance as their top reasons for supporting Amadi. “It’s time for a woman to lead the electoral body,” one respondent noted. Others highlighted her professional background and experience in Kenya’s judicial system.

What Made Other Candidates Stand Out

TIFA Poll Highlights Regional and Gender Dynamics

Interestingly, Amadi’s popularity was consistent across all regions and genders, with a slight edge among female respondents. The survey suggests that Kenyans are looking for inclusive leadership at the IEBC, especially after the turbulent 2022 elections.
