Disappearance During Public Event
Koimburi was presiding over the issuance of bursaries at Gachororo Primary School when several individuals believed to be police officers approached the event. Witnesses claim the MP sensed imminent arrest and immediately boarded a waiting motorcycle, fleeing the scene and leaving behind his official vehicle and driver.
The driver was taken to DCI headquarters for questioning but was later released without charges. Koimburi’s lawyers and allies condemned the act, describing it as politically motivated intimidation.
Not His First Motorbike Escape
This isn’t the first time Koimburi has used a motorbike to evade arrest. In February 2025, he made headlines when he fled from outside the Kiambu Law Courts in a similar manner, moments after addressing the press on an unrelated legal matter.
According to video evidence from the February incident, Koimburi was interrupted by a sudden commotion before he darted toward a waiting motorbike and sped off, eluding DCI officers who had attempted to rearrest him.
Legal Troubles and Forgery Charges
Koimburi’s legal woes trace back to February 18, when he was arrested over allegations of forging academic certificates and submitting false documents to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC). The charges, dating back to 1994, include six counts of forgery and deceit.
He pleaded not guilty and was granted a Ksh 200,000 cash bail. However, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) opposed his release, arguing that the MP posed a flight risk, citing a previous court abscondment in 2022.
Public Reaction and Growing Mystery
As of now, Koimburi’s whereabouts remain unknown. His sudden disappearance has sparked public curiosity and political concern, especially amid rising tensions between state authorities and vocal UDA politicians. Security agencies have yet to issue a formal statement on the incident.
Supporters have taken to social media to demand answers and updates, using hashtags such as #WhereIsKoimburi and #StopPoliticalPersecution.
