Kiharu MP Ndindi Nyoro has refrained from announcing his next political move following his removal as chair of the Budget and Appropriations Committee. Speaking at a press conference at his KICC office on Tuesday, Nyoro expressed gratitude for the opportunity to lead one of the National Assembly’s most influential committees.
His ouster, widely seen as a break in his ties with President William Ruto, had sparked intense speculation that he would soon reveal his plans. However, Nyoro stated,
“I would not want to discuss any leader further. I stopped serving in my position barely a week ago, and I still need to understand many things before I speak.”
He acknowledged the growing anticipation among Kenyans regarding his next steps, adding,
“I know people have expectations about what I should say, when, and how. I receive messages every day advising me on what to do and how to do it.”
Nyoro also noted that he only learned about his removal from newspaper reports, as no one from the Kenya Kwanza leadership had reached out to him. He stressed his gratitude to the Kenyan people for the trust placed in him during his tenure.
Addressing criticisms from fellow MPs who claimed he was channeling disproportionate resources to his constituency while chairing the Budget Committee, Nyoro stated,
“I do not respond to evil with evil, nor do I answer insults with insults. In politics, you draw your line and decide what kind of politics you want to engage in.”
His position has now been taken over by Alego Usonga MP Samuel Atandi, a member of the opposition ODM party. The reshuffle also saw several allies of former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua removed from key parliamentary leadership roles, marking a significant shift in Kenya’s political landscape.
