Ndiangui Kinyagia, a 35-year-old Nairobi-based tech entrepreneur and digital activist, has been missing since June 21, 2025, following an alleged raid by plainclothes officers at his Kinoo residence.

Entrepreneur and ICT Trainer

Kinyagia is the founder and Managing Director of ARI Limited, a Kenyan tech firm established in 2012 that delivers user-centric software solutions. He has over a decade of experience spanning software development, tech training, and mobile applications.

He previously worked at SHARPER Innovations, taught at the Africa Digital Media Institute (ADMI), and served as a corporate trainer at the Institute of Advanced Technology (IAT).

Education and Career

Kinyagia studied Computer Science at Kabarak University, specializing in software engineering and networking. He later earned IT certifications from Emobilis and IAT in mobile development and support technologies.

The Disappearance

According to witnesses, men believed to be from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) raided his home, confiscated his devices, and whisked him away. He hasn’t been seen since.

Just days before, Kinyagia allegedly made a post suggesting plans to lead protesters to State House to lower the presidential standard flag, fueling suspicions that his disappearance may be linked to the message.

Court Intervention

On June 30, Justice Chacha Mwita ordered the Inspector General and DCI Director Mohammed Amin to produce Kinyagia in court or give a valid explanation for his continued absence. The case is now at the center of growing public outcry over enforced disappearances in Kenya.

Public Reaction

Kinyagia is widely respected for his contribution to Kenya’s digital innovation space. His disappearance has triggered condemnation from civil society groups, tech leaders, and human rights organizations calling for his immediate release or formal charge.
