KMTC Urges Students to Pursue Pharmacy: “It’s the Most Marketable Healthcare Career”
The Kenya Medical Training College (KMTC) is urging prospective students to apply for its popular Pharmacy course, highlighting it as one of the most in-demand and rewarding professions in Kenya and abroad.
In a statement released on Thursday, April 24, KMTC emphasized the wide array of opportunities available for Pharmacy graduates, ranging from local hospitals to global pharmaceutical giants.
“Pharmacy is among the most marketable and future-proof careers today,” the statement read. “Our graduates find employment in top pharmaceutical companies, hospitals, research centers, regulatory bodies, and even NGOs both locally and internationally.”
The institution further highlighted the critical role that pharmacy technicians play in the healthcare system — from dispensing drugs and advising patients, to handling administrative duties and supporting public health efforts.
“Pharmacists don’t just stay behind counters. They are instrumental in public health programs, clinical trials, healthcare policy-making, insurance, and academic research,” KMTC noted. “It’s a dynamic and evolving career path.”
Application Window Open for March 2025 Intake
With the March 2025 intake still open, KMTC is calling on students to apply via the KUCCPS student portal. Interested applicants can access program listings and detailed application procedures by visiting KUCCPS KMTC Portal.
Global Demand Surging for Kenyan-Trained Health Professionals
This push comes just weeks after KMTC CEO Kelly Oluoch announced a sharp rise in global demand for KMTC graduates, especially in countries like the United States (US) and United Kingdom (UK).

“Courses like Physiotherapy, Clinical Medicine, Occupational Therapy, and Medical Laboratory Sciences are seeing rising interest,” Oluoch said, adding that Nutrition and Dietetics are also gaining popularity.
He attributed the growth to the increasing global need for healthcare workers due to aging populations, rising lifestyle diseases, and workforce shortages worldwide.
“Thanks to bilateral labor agreements with the UK, Germany, and others, we’ve opened structured pathways for our graduates to find employment abroad,” he added. “We’ve also strengthened our internal systems to expedite job verification processes.”
KMTC remains one of the most trusted institutions in producing skilled healthcare workers ready to serve both locally and globally.
