KUCCPS Opens Portal for P1, ECDE Certificate Holders to Upgrade to Diploma
The Kenya Universities and Colleges Central Placement Service (KUCCPS) has officially opened its online portal to allow P1 and ECDE certificate holders to apply for an upgrade to a diploma level.

Upgrade to Diploma in Primary Teacher Education
In a public notice shared on Thursday, August 7, KUCCPS encouraged all eligible teachers holding either a P1 or ECDE certificate to take this opportunity to enroll in the Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE).
“Do you hold a P1 or ECDE Certificate? You can now upgrade your qualification to Diploma in Primary Teacher Education (DPTE) through KUCCPS placement,” the agency announced.
Candidates are directed to log in via the official teacher upgrade portal at teachersupgrade.kuccps.ac.ke and select their preferred public Teacher Training College (TTC).
September 2025 Intake – Limited Vacancies
This update follows a previous announcement by KUCCPS on Wednesday, July 8, calling for applications to the DPTE programme at Eldas Teacher Training College.
The upcoming intake is set for September 2025, with KUCCPS confirming that only a limited number of slots will be available. Interested candidates are urged to apply early to secure their places.
Who Qualifies for the Programme?
The DPTE programme is designed for aspiring teachers looking to specialize in the primary education sector. To qualify, an applicant must have attained a minimum KCSE mean grade of C (plain).
Applications should be made through the KUCCPS Student Portal, with placements granted on a first-come, first-served basis.
