He emphasized the government’s commitment to protecting lives and property, urging residents to remain calm and avoid taking justice into their own hands.

Assurance on Land Ownership Disputes

Addressing allegations that the clashes were triggered by attempts to grab local land, Murkomen firmly denied such claims, assuring citizens that their property rights would be protected under the current administration.

“We want to assure our citizens that under this administration, no one will take away even an inch of their property. Therefore, there is no need to take the law into their own hands because the government exists to provide security,” he added.

Background of the Angata Barrikoi Clashes

The deadly incident reportedly erupted after government officials arrived in Angata Barrikoi to demarcate a contested piece of land. Tensions escalated when local residents blocked roads in protest, resulting in violent confrontations with security forces that ultimately led to the fatalities.

Senator Ledama Olekina’s Reaction

Narok Senator Ledama Olekina expressed deep sorrow over the killings, offering condolences to the affected families and promising to stand by the community.

“I am deeply saddened by the reported news of the killings in Angata Barrikoi. My heartfelt condolences to all affected. I want to assure you that no one can take your land from you. As your Senator, I stand firmly with you during this difficult time,” Olekina posted on X.

He further pledged to visit the area personally to understand the situation better and to intervene where necessary to prevent any illegal land takeovers.
