Introduction

Applying for a passport in Kenya has been streamlined with the introduction of the e-passport system. You can now apply, renew, or replace your passport online through the eCitizen platform. Below is a step-by-step guide on the application process, charges, and required documents.

Application Procedure

  1. Register on www.ecitizen.go.ke to access government services.
  2. Log in and navigate to the Department of Immigration Services.
  3. Click on the e-passport application form and fill in the required details.
  4. Select a payment method and complete the payment.
  5. Download and review your application form before printing.
  6. Print the application form and three copies of the payment receipt.
  7. Submit the printed form and required documents in person at the nearest Immigration Department or Huduma Centre.

The process typically takes 10 to 15 working days.

Required Documents

Renewal or Replacement of a Lost Passport

The renewal or replacement process follows the same steps as a new application. However, you must provide:

  • Old passport (for renewal cases).
  • Police abstract report for lost passport cases.
  • Sworn affidavit explaining the loss of the passport.
