CS Wandayi Appeals to Kalonzo

During a rural electrification launch in Kitui on Saturday, July 19, Energy Cabinet Secretary Opiyo Wandayi urged Kalonzo to consider working with both President Ruto and Raila Odinga for Kenya’s progress.

“I respect Kalonzo Musyoka; he is my friend. I am confident he will soon work with Raila Odinga and President William Ruto to move Kenya forward. When leaders engage in dialogue, solutions are found,” Wandayi said.

However, Kalonzo rejected the overtures, saying he would not align himself with a government he accused of oppressing Kenyans.

“I will NEVER join this rogue and criminal regime, and I refuse to participate in any type of dialogue with a regime that has our children’s blood on its hands,” Kalonzo declared.

Repeated Attempts by DP Kindiki

Wandayi’s remarks come after similar efforts by Deputy President Kithure Kindiki, who has been courting Kalonzo for a possible political partnership with Ruto ahead of 2027.

Speaking recently in Ukambani, Kindiki suggested that Kalonzo was ill-suited for confrontational politics and should consider joining hands with Ruto to offer solutions to the country’s challenges.

Kalonzo’s 2027 Presidential Ambition

Kalonzo has insisted he will be on the ballot in 2027 after shelving his presidential bids in 2013, 2017, and 2022 to support Raila Odinga. He last contested the presidency in 2007, finishing third in a disputed election that led to post-election violence.
