Soymet Bridge Tragedy: Two Dead, One Injured After Lorry Plunges Into River
Bomet, Kenya – A tragic road accident at Soymet Bridge in Bomet claimed the lives of two people and left one person injured early Sunday morning. The incident occurred around 5:00 AM when a lorry lost control and plunged into a river beneath the bridge.

Police Suspect Overspeeding
According to local police, overspeeding and poor visibility in the early morning hours are suspected to have contributed to the accident. The vehicle was severely damaged upon impact.
Survivor Under Treatment
The lone survivor of the crash was rushed to Kaplong Mission Hospital, where they are currently receiving treatment. Their condition remains stable, according to hospital staff.
Residents Demand Safety Measures
Following the tragedy, residents of Soymet and nearby areas have renewed calls for improved road safety at the bridge, including speed bumps and better signage to prevent further accidents.
Police have launched an investigation into the accident and urged drivers to exercise caution when using the bridge, especially during poor visibility hours.
