The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has dismissed claims circulating online that its officers stormed the residence of National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula.
Commission Responds to Viral Posts
In a statement issued on Thursday, August 21, the anti-graft body described the reports as false and misleading, urging the public to treat them with contempt.
“The attention of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has been drawn to misleading social media posts alleging that EACC officers raided the residence of the Speaker of the National Assembly, Hon. Moses Wetang’ula. EACC wishes to clarify that these reports are false and misleading. The public is urged to rely only on official EACC communication channels for accurate information,” the statement read.
Focus Shifts to Other Investigations
The clarification comes just days after the commission summoned Garissa Governor Nathif Jama Adam over alleged embezzlement of public funds and irregular recruitment of county employees between 2022 and 2024.

The ODM governor is expected to record a statement at EACC headquarters, Integrity Centre, Nairobi, on August 25, 2025. He has been directed to appear at 10:00 AM.
Governors Under Scrutiny
Earlier this month, EACC Chairperson David Oginde revealed that nine governors are currently under active investigation for corruption-related offences. Oginde lamented that some of the worst-hit cases were from marginalized counties, where leaders allegedly divert funds meant for development into private investments in Nairobi.
“It is unfortunate that out of 47 counties, nine governors are under scrutiny. Some counties that are supposed to receive preferential treatment for development are instead seeing funds siphoned and invested in urban properties and businesses,” Oginde said.
