Prince Rahim Aga Khan V Honored with Kenya’s Highest Award
Accepting the award, Prince Rahim expressed appreciation to the government and people of Kenya, describing the honor as both a recognition of past partnerships and a pledge to continue collaborating on future initiatives. “This decoration represents a commitment to stand with Kenyans in building a fairer and more hopeful tomorrow,” he said.
The event also saw Princess Zahra Aga Khan, a board member of the Aga Khan Development Network, receive the Order of the Golden Heart (EGH) award for her leadership and service.
Prince Rahim, who succeeded his father, the late Aga Khan IV, earlier this year as the 50th Imam of the Shia Ismaili Muslim Community, arrived in Kenya on Monday. He was received by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi and is expected to engage in high-level talks with the Kenyan government.
According to State House, discussions will focus on strengthening cooperation between Kenya and the Ismaili Imamat. A Memorandum of Understanding is expected to be signed to expand joint initiatives in education, health, and economic development.
This recognition comes just months after President Ruto conferred the same honor on other global figures, including former UN Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon and AfDB President Akinwumi Adesina, underscoring Kenya’s growing international partnerships.
