Ruto Fires Back: Did Opposition Launch a Party or Just Attack Me?

President Ruto Criticizes Opposition for Using PLP Launch to Attack His Leadership

Taita Taveta, Kenya – President William Ruto has hit back at opposition leaders for using the launch of Martha Karua’s People’s Liberation Party (PLP) in Meru County as a platform to criticize his administration.

Speaking in Taita Taveta County on Friday, February 28, Ruto accused Martha Karua, former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua, and Kalonzo Musyoka of focusing more on attacking him rather than presenting their party’s agenda.

Ruto’s Response to Opposition Leaders

The President questioned the opposition’s intentions, arguing that their main agenda seemed to be about him instead of their political vision.

“I saw some people trying to launch a political party yesterday. They spoke for four hours about William Ruto. Was the party being created for Ruto, or is it called the Ruto Party?” Ruto asked.

He urged them to focus on formulating policies and presenting solutions for Kenyans rather than engaging in political rhetoric.

Ruto Warns Against Tribal Politics

Ruto also accused opposition leaders of fueling tribalism instead of addressing the real challenges facing the country. He urged them to focus on issues such as economic growth and social development.

“The price of tribalism has gone down; they should not try to sell it to us. I urge them to focus on matters that truly matter, including their plan for Kenyans,” he stated.

Gachagua’s Criticism of Ruto

Ruto’s remarks came in response to Rigathi Gachagua’s statements at the PLP launch. Gachagua accused the President of dishonesty, alleging that he had misled both elite leaders and ordinary citizens, including the clergy, who supported his 2022 presidential bid.

He also blamed Ruto for the rising cost of living and what he described as the deterioration of education and healthcare in the country.

“Ever since I was born, I have never seen a liar like Ruto. This man looks you straight in the eye and lies without hesitation,” Gachagua claimed.

The political tensions between Ruto and the opposition continue to escalate as both sides prepare for future political battles.
